| On the second weekend each September, the “High Plains Rally” will be held at Talbotville, approx. 32 km. from Dargo, in the North Eastern Highlands of Victoria. The 17km road between Dargo and the Grant Road turn-off is bitumen. The 15km track between Grant Road turn-off and Talbotville is variable dirt. Rally badges will be provided for prepaid entrants and a limited number will be available on the day. Fresh running water is at rally site. Limited firewood is provided. Petrol, food and drinks are available at Dargo town centre. There will be basic hot dogs and steamed Dim Sims at the Rally site so make sure you get your last minute whatevers at the Dargo General Store. | On September 18 this year police from around Australia will ride to the National Police Memorial in Canberra for a special service to honour police who have paid the ultimate price in the line of duty in the inaugural Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance. Organised by National Police Memorial Executive, The Police Association of Victoria, New South Wales Police Association and motorcyclists within the police family in Victoria and New South Wales, rides to the service will begin in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne, departing on September 17. The riders will all meet on the outskirts of Canberra on Saturday, September 18 and ride to the memorial together. This ride is for all motorcyclists to participate and remember police officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. All riders are invited to participate. The Wall to Wall Ride will remember and honour those police officers who have fallen in the line of duty and promote safe and lawful motorcycling whilst raising awareness and money for Australian Police Legacies. Monies raised will be donated to Police Legacy organisations in each state. These charitable organisations provide a range of services and ongoing support to police families who have lost a loved one. Funding is mainly provided through contributions from serving police, bequests and donations. The Victorian ride is being planned by a committee of current and serving police members and is chaired by Brian Rix, President of the Police Association in Victoria and Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy in New South Wales. It is endorsed by New South Wales and Victoria Police and the patron in Victoria is Deputy Commissioner Sir Ken Jones, himself a keen motorcyclist. Website 100620 |
